Part of the SCPN's mission is to help support and promote local charity groups and other organizations who are not only part of the Pagan community but the entire communtiy at large. We, along with other organizations, have compiled a list links that might be of interest if you would like to help make a difference.

The Living Room
The Living Room is the only daytime drop-in program in Sonoma County that specifically serves homeless and at-risk women and their children. It fills a special niche in conjunction with other community agencies, providing participants from nearby programs and shelters with a place to be during the day when shelters are closed. It is also a critical first stop for women who are the verge of becoming homeless, the first place that at-risk or newly homeless turn to for relief and referral guidance.

COTS, A Local Homeless Shelter
COTS offers help and hope to homeless persons in Sonoma County by providing safe shelter and housing, helping people develop steady incomes and helping them get back under a roof of their own.
They help homeless families become stable and break the cycle of homelessness by teaching homeless parents to make their children's needs a high priority and to provide a safe, loving and secure home for their children.

Pagans In The Military

Graphic created by Linda Johnson
Many of us might forget that when we say "support our troops" it does not necessarily mean that we support the political policies of our governing administrators. What we might forget is that the men and women who go to serve in the military are as diverse as the civilian population in their backgrounds and their beliefs. There are many men and women serving in the military right now who are of Pagan faith and they and their families need our support.
If you can and would like to help out here are a few links of interest:
Operation Homefront
Operation Homefront is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to military families while service members are deployed. They support our nation's troops by allowing military personnel to focus on the demands of their duties abroad. There is also a Sacramento chapter.
Patriot Defenders Network
Patriot Defenders Network works to keep people abreast of the events around our community that support our troops and their families still at home.
Marine Comfort Quilts
Marine Comfort Quilts is a group of wonderful people who are sending quilts to the families of soldiers, of every branch of service, who have been lost overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom. You can volunteer your help in many ways.
Pagan Headstone Campaign
Pentacle Finally Accepted For Veterans Headstones! May 11, 2007
This is a landmark decision folks. At long last the Wiccan pentacle has been added to the list of emblems allowed in national cemeteries and on government-issued headstones of fallen soldiers, according to a settlement announced Monday May 7, 2007.
To view the Dept. of Veterans Affairs list of available emblems visit: http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/hm/hmemb.asp
The Pagan Headstone Campaign is a site dedicated to adding symbols to declare their religion on the headstones of Pagan soldiers who have fallen for our country.
A special thank you to everyone who signed petitions and got the word out to help make this victory posible!
